“The love God gives you, you have to give to others. Love is the most important thing you can have. With love, you have peace.” -Delores Chatigny
A retired hospice director, Dolores Chatigny grew up in the Catholic faith. A member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dexter, Dolores serves as a Eucharistic minister, taking communion to shut-ins and bringing parishioners to church. “It is wonderful knowing I can help them live out their faith.”
When her priest asked her to take on a grief ministry, she agreed. “I feel very honored to do this. When you’ve experienced grief, you know what it’s like,” says Dolores whose personal loss includes her mother as a young woman, one of her children, and her two husbands. “I understand how alone you can feel and that it is normal. It takes time and patience.”
“My faith has helped me through these trials,” says Dolores. “Now I use this experience to help others. I believe God was leading me here.”
Dolores lives at The Cedars of Dexter with her toy poodle, Brutus. “I am so impressed with this beautiful community. I love living here.”
