“Why Seniors choose retirement COMMUNITIES”
In the very near future the “baby boomer” population will explode in the U.S.
The number of older adults in the U.S. is expected to double by 2030, and triple for seniors 85 and older (U.S. Census Bureau). Per the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, Michigan is already one of ten states in the U.S. with the highest concentration of people 50 and over; by 2030, one in four Michigan citizens will be over the age of 60. www.healthendowmentfund.org (2016), a jump from 19.5% or approximately one in five currently www.census.gov
So, when do you know it’s time to move?
Wouldn’t it be nice to give yourself that break? The concept of maintenance-free living (literally!) means no more hassle with housekeeping, lawncare, and more. The dining options are even built right in. This allows you the freedom to come and go as you please and not feel the demands and commitment of maintaining your home.
Recently, I asked one of our residents, “What do you like best about living here?” to which she replied: “I never have to wash a dish again, and I get to enjoy the gardens anytime I want.”
Living in a retirement COMMUNITY has its perks. It enables residents to be as active and involved as they want. Just because you live in a retirement community, it doesn’t mean you stop living. Quite frankly, it’s the time to start enjoying yourself again. Rewarding yourself for all the hard work you’ve put in over the years. Only now, you have the flexibility to participate in a maintenance-free, safe, secure environment.
There are many options of homes, apartments, or alternative options to choose from that include various sizes, décor, and activities. Your utilities, cable/internet, lawncare, general maintenance, and meal options can be bundled in to make life that much easier for you.
Retirement homes have always had this stigma attached that they’re “a sad place to go”. Maybe we should start looking at it like it’s the beginning of something wonderful, and that includes creating new friendships and memories in a beautiful community.
Maybe it’s time to let US take care of YOU for a change………
